Our History in Milestones
For the Environment and the people of Maio
Officially created on 17 February 2010, the Maio Biodiversity Foundation (FMB) is a non-profit environmental non-governmental organization (NGO) with public utility status, which promotes sustainable development through the rational management of resources and nature conservation.
FMB has a team of 18 permanent employees and is currently the largest private employer on the island of Maio.
Our main objectives are the conservation, enhancement and responsible management of natural resources and biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable development, through the promotion of environmentally friendly economic activities, for the benefit of the communities of Maio and in particular the most vulnerable groups, with a particular focus on women and young people.
